Turn a Weak AI Prompt into a Clear Brief
“Make it professional” can mean shorter sentences, a formal tone, stronger structure or fewer jokes. If you do not explain which change you want, several completely different answers may all appear reasonable.
A practical way to start
Write the weak prompt at the top of a note. Under it, describe the defect you actually want to fix. Add one example of acceptable wording and identify anything that must remain unchanged.
Prompt to try
Rewrite this customer notice in plain, polite English. Keep the price, opening hours and phone number exactly as supplied. Remove repeated apologies. Use no more than 100 words. If an important detail is missing, flag it after the draft instead of inventing it. Notice: [paste text].
Check the result
Check names, dates, quantities and commitments against the original. A smoother sentence is not an improvement if it changes what you agreed to deliver. Read the revision aloud to hear whether it sounds like your business.
For the next revision, point to a specific sentence. “Shorten the opening and keep the closing” provides a clearer direction than repeatedly asking for something better.
