Ibadan Firefighters Contain Eleyele Tanker Fire With No Casualties Reported
Bagale Pulse News Brief | 6 October 2026
Firefighters in Oyo State put out a tanker fire on Eleyele Road in Ibadan without any reported casualties, according to The Guardian’s report of 6 October 2026.
The incident happened opposite the Nursing School in Eleyele. The state fire service said it received a distress call at about 6:37 p.m. and sent personnel to the location.
The vehicle was a 14,000-litre-capacity tanker associated with diesel transportation. Crucially, the agency said it was empty when the fire occurred; the capacity figure should not be read as the volume of fuel burning at the scene.
The agency attributed the fire to sparks from the engine compartment. State firefighters worked with the Federal Fire Service, police and road-safety officers to bring the situation under control.
Officials used the incident to stress vehicle maintenance and prompt reporting of emergencies with accurate locations. The published account reports successful containment, rather than a fatal explosion.
